NZTA seeks new national consenting process to advance Western Ring Route completion The NZTA has decided to apply to use the new national consenting process under the Resource Management Act, to advance Auckland's Western Ring Route project.

The new provisions were introduced by Government last year to streamline the decision-making process on matters of national significance. They will be  sought for the Waterview Connection project (SH20 from Maioro Street to Waterview) and for the Northwestern Motorway Improvements Project (SH16 from St Lukes to Te Atatu).

If the application is approved, it will be the first transport project  to be considered under the new national consenting process.
