Activities eligible for inclusion
The NLTP can only include regional activities that are proposed in a regional land transport programme. Regional transport committees decide what activities to include when developing these programme. Activities include:
- operation, maintenance and renewal of local roads and of state highways
- new and improved infrastructure for local roads and for state highways
- public transport services, and maintenance of public transport infrastructure
- improvements to public transport infrastructure
- improvements to walking and cycling infrastructure
- transport planning
- demand management and community programmes.
The NLTP also includes activities that are delivered nationally such as:
- road policing
- demand management and community programmes
- sector training and research
- advice and guidance on transport planning activity development and funding, and management of funding through the NLTF.
