Accessing monitoring data and reports

Updated: 5 January 2010

This section provides you with access to the data we've collected and reports we produced as part of monitoring the investment of public funds in land transport infrastructure and services. Providing this information is just one of the ways in which we're accountable to New Zealand's taxpayers for the investment of those funds.

Data

We've compiled huge volumes of data over many years and we're currently working to make as much of it as possible available online.

Meantime, you can find a proportion of data from our published reports below or contact us with any request for raw data.

Reports

The reports are broken down into the following performance topics:

  • Access and mobility - covering access to and use of all the land transport modes, including public transport, walking and cycling.
  • Economy - examining the contribution that land transport makes to the economic development of New Zealand.
  • Environment - examining the impacts that land transport has on the environment, including fuel use, emissions, etc.
  • Outcomes 'At a glance' - a high-level overview of the contribution that land transport makes to the government's economic, social and environmental objectives for transport.
  • Road condition - information on the condition and costs of maintaining territorial authority assets - presently only roads.
  • Road statistics - records of physical statistics, completed works and associated costs for local roads and state highways funded through the National Land Transport Programme (NLTP).
  • Public health - examining the impacts that land transport has on public health, particularly health impacts of emissions.
  • Public transport - covering access to and use of buses, ferries and trains.
  • Road safety - crash and casualty statistics of vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians on New Zealand roads, taken from the Crash Analysis System (CAS).
  • Total Mobility - covering access to and use of the Total Mobility scheme for the transport disadvantaged.
