Rimutaka Corner (Muldoon's) easing

The Muldoon’s Corner project on the Rimutaka Hill Road, approximately 50km from Wellington, will improve safety, visibility, and security for road users.

The project received funding through the Government's Jobs and Growth stimulus package of February 2009, allowing construction to commence in August 2009, 30 months ahead of programme.

Construction is expected be completed by mid-2012.

Project purpose

To improve the road position around several very tight corners and address issues for vehicles passing in either direction as the road is particularly narrow.
