Project purpose
The aim of this project is to remove congestion points for through-traffic, improve safety and improve journey time reliability through this section of the Kapiti Coast.
Benefits
The expressway will allow more efficient movements for local traffic, more efficient movements of freight and people through the region, remove some development restrictions and assist economic growth.
Features
The MacKays to Peka Peka Expressway will provide for two lanes of traffic in each direction with local service roads and connections, and an additional crossing of the Waikanae River. Partial interchanges at Poplar Avenue and Peka Peka Road, and full interchanges at Kapiti Road and Te Moana Road will provide access to the expressway.
