Western Belfast bypass

Updated: 20 April 2010

The NZ Transport Agency is currently investigating improvements for the northern and western corridors to Christchurch, including a bypass of Belfast, known as the Western Belfast Bypass. It will provide a new route from the Northern Motorway (SH1) for approximately five kilometres south to Johns Road (SH1) near The Groynes entrance.

Consultation index

Consultation to outline what is being proposed and seek feedback on the initial options. There are two short-term and two long-term options being proposed. All four options connect in the south with Johns Road near the entrance to the Groynes, but follow different alignments to connect either directly to the Northern Motorway, or through the intersection of Dickeys Road and Main North Road.

Submissions closed on Friday 16 April.
