Vehicle Safety Advisory Group (VSAG)

Updated: 20 September 2011

The Vehicle Safety Advisory Group (VSAG) was established to develop aligned strategies to enhance the safety of the NZ vehicle fleet through interaction with industry and regulatory frameworks. The VSAG builds on the previous Vehicle Safety Advisory Committee (VSAC) but with a stronger focus on forging closer working relationships with industry.

The group consists of influential representatives of the vehicle industry, vehicle users, lobby groups as well as regulatory department officials to form responsible collegial discussion groups. Group members have been nominated by their association or industry group based on meeting some prerequisite conditions.

The VSAG is establishing a list of key priorities of issues facing industry that align with NZTA strategic priorities and agree to work through these issues to the mutual satisfaction of all members of the group. Work will align with the heavy and light vehicle streamed activities of the Access & Use Vehicles Unit.

The group will meet at least three times per year.
