Our Board

The NZ Transport Agency Board meets monthly from February to December. It is responsible for making independent decisions on allocating and investing funds from the National Land Transport Fund. The Board publishes its planned programme of investment annually in a document called the National Land Transport Programme.

The Minister of Transport can appoint up to eight members to the Board. Current members are:

Minutes of Board meetings are published in the month following the meeting.

Board committees

The Board has three committees, each with between three and four Board members:

  • Investment and Operations Board Committee, Bryan Jackson chair
  • Audit, Risk and Assurance Board Committee
  • Remuneration and Human Resources Board Committee, Patsy Reddy, chair.

Board committees meet every two to three months.

Chris Moller.

Chris Moller (Wellington), Chair

Chris is a trained accountant and brings strong financial skills and experience to the NZTA Board. He has a portfolio of commercial directorships including Meridian Energy Ltd, National Foods Pty Ltd, New Zealand Cricket Inc, NZX Ltd and Rugby New Zealand 2011 Ltd. He is also a trustee of the Victoria University Foundation and Westpac Regional Stadium Trust. He was chief executive of the New Zealand Rugby Union, deputy chief executive of Fonterra Co-operative Group Ltd, and a director of a range of joint venture and subsidiary organisations of the New Zealand dairy industry.

Patsy Reddy is a professional director, consultant, and barrister and solicitor. She is chair of the New Zealand Film Commission, a member of Active Equities Ltd and the NZ Markets Disciplinary Tribunal, a trustee of the New Zealand International Festival of the Arts and a Chief Crown Negotiator for Treaty Settlements. Patsy was a director of Telecom, Sky City Entertainment Group, New Zealand Post, Air New Zealand and Southern Petroleum New Zealand.

Tony Lanigan

Tony Lanigan (Auckland)

Tony Lanigan is a professional civil engineer (FIPENZ), project management consultant and former general manager of Fletcher Construction. Tony was Chancellor of Auckland University of Technology and a director of Infrastructure Auckland. He is currently vice chair of Habitat for Humanity in NZ and chair of NZ Housing Foundation. He is a director of Watercare Services Limited.

Bryan Jackson (Waikanae) is a company director. He is Chairman of Vehicle Testing New Zealand and a board member of KiwiRail. Bryan is a director of ING NZ Pty Limited, IEF Limited, Nees Hardware and Building Supplies Limited and several other private companies.

Jerry Rickman is a chartered accountant, a professional director, and a consultant to the firm Price Waterhouse. Jerry currently chairs the Waikato Regional Airport Ltd, HG Leach Ltd, and Tidd Ross Todd Ltd. He is a member of Telecom's Independent Oversight Group and director of Alandale Life Care Ltd. He has chaired the Waikato District Health Board, Dallas Motors Ltd, Greens Industries Ltd, Innovation Waikato Ltd, Dow Group Ltd, and Katolyst Group.

Alick has governance experience gained from nine years as a Wellington city councillor and from his directorships on a range of government, community and trust boards.

Adrienne Young-Cooper is an Auckland businesswomen and professional director. She had a thirty year career in resource management and town planning specialising in spatial planning, metropolitan growth management including infrastructure planning and large projects.

Adrienne was the Deputy Chairman of Auckland Regional Transport Authority (replaced by Auckland Transport), and was a member of the board of Maritime New Zealand until earlier this year. Her experience and contribution in transport governance is extensive.

She also is a Director of Solid Energy New Zealand Limited, Deputy Chairman of Auckland Waterfront Development Agency Limited (Waterfront Auckland) , and Deputy Chairman of Housing New Zealand Corporation.

Gill is a Chartered Accountant, currently serving on a number of Boards of privately held companies, as well as chairing both MainPower (NZ) Ltd and Transwaste Canterbury Ltd. He also Chairs the Advisory Body of Development West Coast and is on the CERA Community Forum in Christchurch and the executive committee of the Canterbury Business Leaders Group. Gill was formerly a partner of Deloitte for 25 years and President of the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants.
