SH35 Maraenui Hill diversion update

The Maraenui Bluff slip which closed State Highway 35, 30 kilometres east of Opotiki continues to move slowly, reports the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA).

Fraser Street intersection construction contract awarded

The NZTA this week awarded the contract to build extra lanes at the Fraser Street, 15th Avenue intersection, add two new pedestrian crossings on 15th Avenue and improve cycling and walking routes on State Highway 2A to Downer NZ Ltd.

Aucklanders switch on to biggest ever motorway closure

Following the Auckland Regional Transport Authority's announcement of free local rail travel during this weekend's 36 hour southbound closure of the Southern Motorway, the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) is reiterating its advice to all Aucklanders to drive only if they have to from 5pm this Saturday.

Rob Roy Hotel move makes excellent progress

The NZ Transport Agency says contractors have made excellent progress moving Auckland's Rob Roy Hotel nine metres this morning, and the historic building is now 28 metres along the journey to its temporary home.

While there were two fewer road deaths on West Coast roads in 2009 compared to the previous year the number of serious injury crashes increased by almost a third according to the latest NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) crash figures for the West Coast Region.

The 32 road crash deaths in Canterbury last year is the lowest in a decade and a significant reduction on the 48 people who died on the regions roads in 2008.

New Manukau Harbour crossing now fully open

Weather permitting, the NZ Transport Agency says all lanes on the upgraded Southwestern Motorway [SH20] between Walmsley Road and Queenstown Road will be open and fully functioning from 5am tomorrow [Wednesday 1 September].

New motorway good news for Auckland and Rugby World Cup

The NZ Transport Agency's newest motorway, connecting the Southern [SH1] and Southwestern [SH20] Motorways at Manukau City, was officially opened today by the Minister of Transport, Hon Steven Joyce.

The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) advises that a diversion is now in place to allow light vehicles to travel around the slip site at Maraenui Hill, and back onto State Highway 35.

SH2 Horokiwi slip repairs - northbound lane closure

The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) advises motorists heading north on State Highway 2 that one lane in the vicinity of Horokiwi will be closed for four nights from Sunday 29 August to Wednesday 1 September.
