Road works to begin on SH2 near Mangatawhiri next week

19 Mar 2010 | Hamilton Regional Office

The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) advises that resealing of the Mangatawhiri Deviation section of State Highway 2 is scheduled to begin next week.

The 7km Mangatawhiri Deviation starts at the Mangatawhiri Bridge, 10km east of the SH1/2 junction near Pokeno, and ends at the Maramarua Golf Course.

During the resealing works, eastbound traffic will be diverted through Mangatawhiri Village and travel delays of up to 15 minutes are expected.

NZTA Waikato State Highway Manager Kaye Clark says, weather permitting, the works will start on Wednesday 24 March and will take a maximum of four days to complete.

Mrs Clark thanks motorists for their patience and says the work will be completed and speed restrictions lifted at least two days before the Easter break.

The works will require some stop/go traffic control, and speed restrictions will be in place through the work area.
